Aim
- Standardise the designation and description of the component parts of doors (e.g. guides, panels, lifting systems, safety devices);
- Facilitating technical communication between designers, builders, installers, maintainers and authorities;
- Provide a common basis for the consistent application of related technical standards, in particular those on performance and safety requirements (e.g. EN 13241, EN 12604).
Scope of Application
- It concerns the components of doors and gates, both manual and motorised;
- It covers components of doors and gates, both manual and motorised; includes mechanical, structural and electrical/electronic parts involved in opening, closing, control and safety;
- It does not apply to completely different systems, such as shutters or barriers designed exclusively for pedestrian passage covered by EN 13241.
