EN 12444 - Industrial, commercial and garage doors and gates - Resistance to wind load - Testing and calculation
Complementary to EN 12424, this standard defines the test and calculation methods for determining the wind load resistance class of a door or gate
Scope of Application
- Doors and gates intended for external use;
- Any industrial or residential door not exclusively for pedestrian use.
Main contents
- Experimental test in pressure chamber (positive and negative);
- Structural calculation method alternative or supplementary to the physical test;
Definition of:
- allowable deformation,
- stability and failure criteria,
- instrumentation and measurement tolerances.
(The test method simulates cyclic loads and depressions equivalent to real wind, to verify that the door does not deform dangerously or lose functionality)
In practice, EN 12444 explains how to obtain the strength class by testing or structural calculations, while EN 12424 indicates the strength class of a product. Both are required for the declaration of performance (DoP) and CE marking according to EN 13241.
