EN 16005 - Motorised pedestrian doors - Safety in use, Requirements and test methods
EN 16005 is the European technical standard that establishes the safety requirements in use for motorised, automatic or semi-automatic pedestrian doors intended for pedestrian access. It is the main normative reference for guaranteeing the protection of users in public and private contexts.
Aim
The standard aims at:
- prevent risks of crushing, impact, entrapment and draw-in;
- ensure safe and controlled operation under all intended conditions of use;
- define the test methods for verifying compliance.
Scope of Application
It applies to:
- Automatic sliding, swing, revolving, telescopic doors;
- Installations in public, commercial, residential and healthcare buildings;
- Doors accessible to the public (including those in airports, hospitals, shopping centres, etc.).
N.B. Garage doors, gates and industrial doors (covered by EN12453) are excluded.
