EN 60335-2-95 - Safety of household electrical appliances – Part 2-95: Particular requirements for vertical moving garage doors for residential use

EN 60335-2-95 is a technical standard specifying electrical and mechanical safety requirements for motorised garage doors for residential use. It is a part of the broader EN 60335 series dedicated to electrical appliances for domestic and similar use.

Aim

Ensure that vertically opening garage doors, installed in a private area, are safe in their daily operation, in particular with respect to:

  • electrical hazards;
  • protection against crushing and impact;
  • behaviour under fault conditions.

Scope of Application

  • Motorised, vertically moving garage doors installed in residential environments.
  • It does not apply to automatic industrial, commercial or pedestrian doors (EN12453).

Relationship with EN 12453

EN 60335-2-95 is considered complementary to EN 12453 for the residential sector only:

  • The measurements of impact and crushing forces for vertical doors are specified here.
  • The use of detection devices and behaviour in the event of an obstacle must meet both references, with this standard prevailing in the domestic sphere.
